While sitting at a traffic light in Birmingham, MI, a distracted lady in a big pickup truck hit me doing 35-40 mph driving me into the car in front of me, that one into the can in front and that one into the car in front. I looked in my rear view mirror and no one was there as she had driven off until the truck died a block away. My iWatch called the police and an ambulance, assuring that I wanted each. I then, from the car called my wife in Ohio and she called Erie Insurance. I would point out that Michigan is a “no fault state”, so unbeknownst to me, Erie would pay for my totaled car. Luckily, my policy has a “no fault clause” in it, and, even better, my totaled car only had 6500 miles on it and was only 6 months old. My policy also had a replacement clause that allowed me to get a two-year newer car. So I got a new 2026 rather than a 2024. Elizabeth was my agent and got involved 2-3 times a week for over a month dealing with all the unique policy and legal issues that the controversial “no fault” law causes out-of-staters. Elizabeth and I probably talked via phone or email 3-4 times a week. I can only say, I’m in the “best hands” with Erie Insurance!!
